THE PICNIC TABLE

This is a folding picnic table made specifically for my parents. The trays are kept in the kitchen and filled with foods before brought to the travelling table.

The table is folded up after the meal they shared together and displayed as a wooden mural.

The image, burned into the table by hand, depicts the story of my grandfathers role in his grandchildren's lives. He led the way for our growth and discovery in the natural world.

These are grandfathers hands full of seeds. He will pour the seeds into my pouch; I will ceremoniously recieve them, dutifully sow them, and naturally spread his love for nature, dirty hands, and had work.

The construction and design of this table very much replicated his construction and design process.

The table is made of 100% reclaimed cedar wood scraps.
The trays are made of 100% reclaimed cedar also.

The front sits flush with the edge of the table, while the back lofts up over the raised back bar on the table.

This base for your wine of choice.

The platform falls down on 4 wire strands that connect it to the table. The base twists back into the table when folded.

The ceremonious table is meant for intimate picnics to be taken in one of my parents favorite spots: their back yard. The picnic can take place in any season, any time of the day, for any meal of the day.

My father sits on the right while my mother sits on the left.
