feedback

feedback is a playful chair that encourages interaction between two strangers sitting back to back.

During engagement direct exchange of energy between two people takes place, as they massage each others backs.

One participant takes the negative form of the other participant’s back.  The wooden pegs stretch through a neutral membrane from one seat-back to the opposite. Through small amounts of movement the strangers surprisingly, spontaneously, and playfully engage in social intercourse.

As designer of this chair, I am responding to the lack of human interaction/contact that happens in everyday temporary situations.  The chair is meant for situations such as waiting rooms, transportation platforms, parks, conference halls, city sidewalks, civic buildings, airport terminals…

Ergonomics: The chair hits 6 different pressure points along the back.

It is designed for the measurements of an average male/female.
